An example
If it's AFC 17, NFC 10 after the first quarter, find the 7 in the
AFC numbers across the top and the 0 in the NFC numbers down the side. The
name in the square where that column and row cross wins the first quarter. Type each quarter's score in the
tracker under the grid and the sheet marks the winner for you.
Which numbers come up most?
Football scores move in 3s and 7s, so last digits of 0, 3, 4 and 7 turn up far more often than 2, 5 or 9.
That's why the draw comes after the squares are filled: a random draw gives everyone the same chance.
Drawing the numbers by hand
Print with blank numbers (the PDF always has them), write 0 to 9 on slips of paper, and draw them from a
hat for the top row, then again for the side. Or press “Draw numbers” here: it shuffles the digits fairly,
so every order is equally likely.
Running the board for a group
The sheet stays on this device as you edit it. “Copy link” puts the numbers, team names, price and payouts
in a link that gives everyone the same board; tick “Include the names” to send the filled grid too. Scores
you type stay on your own device.
How should we split the pot?
Common splits are an equal 25% for each quarter, or 20% for the first three and 40% for the final. Type
amounts or percentages in the payout fields and the sheet works out each prize from the price per square.
A note on money
Squares are just as much fun for bragging rights, snacks or chores. If your group plays for money, the rules
on pools and wagering depend on where you live, so check your local laws first. PrintDates doesn't collect
entries or handle money.
