How the Indiana guidelines run

For a child 3 or older, the noncustodial parent (Home B) has alternate weekends from Friday 6 p.m. to Sunday 6 p.m., all year, and one evening a week of up to four hours, back by 9 p.m. The guidelines don't say which weekend starts the alternation or which evening it is: set the Friday of one of your weekends, and the calendar marks Wednesday for the evening.

The alternation never resets: a weekend lost to the other parent's holiday stays lost, and if a holiday gives a parent two weekends in a row, the third stays theirs too.

Holidays by odd and even years

In odd-numbered years Home B has spring break, Easter weekend, July 3 to 5, fall break and Halloween evening, and the first half of the Christmas vacation. In even-numbered years Home B has Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends, Thanksgiving from Wednesday to Sunday, and the second half of Christmas. Mother's Day and Father's Day weekends go to that parent every year.

Christmas vacation is split in half by its days, and the parent without Christmas Day in their half has it from noon to 9 p.m. Half of the summer is the noncustodial parent's choice: add it as a stretch once it's chosen.

Questions
